The global market for power or utility boilers is forecast to reach 128,000 MW by 2015. Major demand drivers for this global market are high-energy costs, surging demand for hydroelectric power and the growing popularity of energy-efficient boilers. Specifically, there is an increase in demand in the Asia-Pacific region as the emerging economies expand their infrastructure to meet economic growth. India and China figure high in this list.
The global trend in this industry is towards solar energy and biomass powered boilers rather than those that rely on fossil-based fuels. Energy efficiency is also critical.
Apart from power sector, the demand for new boilers in India, especially in sugar, textile and garment, and paper and paper products are on upswing and have resulted in introduction of high-efficiency boilers that conform to current emission standards.
